Located in Miami, Florida, The Well Heeled Dog is dedicated to improving the communication and relationships between dogs and their owners. Our approach to dog training is based on the dog’s individual personality, past experiences, learning ability and social development along with the goals of the family.

Our first priority is for the health, well being and safety of the dog. Dogs become more balanced and are happier companions when the people who love them are able to communicate with them in a fair and effective way that the dog understands. Effective dog training is a balance of art and science and requires a commitment on the part of the owner to follow through and make it a way of life … everyday!

No matter how much we love them and try to assign human characteristics to them; they are dogs that have specific canine needs. Most behavioral problems arise from mixed signals and poor communication from the owner. With proper leadership, structure and consistency these problems can be eliminated and replaced with obedience and desirable behaviors.

what we do

Based on your particular requirements you can choose between a board and train program and private lessons in your home. Some people like to meet at parks or their place of business and we do that too.

Our dogs, like us, can have varied and unique personalities; so training is individualized to suit each dog and their owner’s expectations. No dog is too young or too old; but different training goals and programs are appropriate, given the life stage of the dog. Old dogs can learn new tricks, but we need to be realistic in our expectations.

Our services include obedience training, behavior modification, puppy consulting, house breaking, proper socialization and doggy manners. Of course YOU need to understand the “why and how” of the training process and accordingly time is spent training the owner too.
