Naya (a Rhodesian Ridgeback) was true to her breed and was a stubborn girl until we took her to Matt and The Well Heeled Dog. Within a week Matt made more progress with Naya than we had in months. Naya loved it and now Matt and Hannah are her best friends!

Leo was our highly strung boxer who was hyper and out of control. We
tried other training classes with no success. Matt is a blessing, he
worked with Leo and then followed up with us, we now have a beautiful
well behaved boxer boy.

“Matt Smith and The Well Heeled Dog” are just spectacular. We adopted an adorable and extremely intelligent, but not so well behaved and somewhat aggressive puppy named Ruby, from a shelter in New York City. By the time she was 6 months old, she was relatively out of control and was virtually incapable of interacting with other dogs. When we moved to Miami we knew that we would have to make a conscious effort to work diligently in turning her behavior. We were introduced to Matt by a friend and fellow animal care expert in South Florida. In order to meet the dog and understand the challenges, Matt visited with us at our home. He immediately recognized the issues and suggested that we enroll her into The Well Heeled Dog’s ‘Boot Camp’ program, a week-long series of training sessions for dogs. After the week was over, not only could we see a recognizable improvement, we knew that we had found a life long friend and support system in Matt. Ruby now spends many weekends with Matt, continuing her training and hanging with other dogs. To watch an animal, who we love, who couldn’t deal with the anxiety of being near another animal, now play and sleep with other dogs – it’s priceless. Due to our work, we will be going abroad for a prolonged period of time. We would not be able to take this opportunity if it was not for Matt, knowing that Ruby will not only be safe and loved while we are gone, but will be in an environment that encourages her to grow. Our hat is off to Matt and The Well Heeled Dog. “
You are a life saver my friend!
Best always

Matt, without you it would have been impossible for us to control or keep Boo, our ginormous 125lb American Bulldog. You have been of immeasurable value, teaching us to walk Boo instead of Boo walking us, crating, stopping the play biting and most importantly socializing him with other dogs. Boo is now a model citizen vs. “that crazy dog”. He can play and roam among our family and friends without getting into trouble and setting a great example on how great an American Bulldog can be as a family pet. Thank you for always going the extra mile for Boo. Your passion for what you do always shines through.
Sincerely,
DS, Hialeah
We have used Matt to train and board our two Pomeranians a number of times, and I would highly recommend him. Our oldest dog, Angel, is 14
years old, and she is stubborn and stuck in her ways. We have hired dog sitters in the past, and they have complained that she hides under the furniture and they cannot get her to go outside. But, Angel adores Matt! He has no problems with her, and she always enjoys herself when she stays there. Kodi, our 2-year old, was never properly trained when he was a puppy, and it shows. But after just a few sessions working with Matt, he's a completely different dog! He has a little bit of a barking problem, and we will definitely be utilizing Matt's expertise to resolve that issue. If you're looking for the right trainer, Matt's your guy!

"Our American Hairless Terrier was out of control, we had almost given up on him when we placed a call to Matt Smith with The Well Heeled Dog. Thanks to Matt's amazing work, he returned our Luigi after a week and we could hardly recognize him! His behavior had changed, he no longer chews things up and Matt showed us how to maintain training at home so that we could all live happily together as a family. Matt Smith is wonderful, and I would recommend him to anyone who has a canine crises!"

Our incorrigible Jack Russell spent 3 days with Matt and returned a changed dog - for the better, I might add. Now, our Jack walks on the leash without pulling or trying to chase other dogs. He is all around a much happier pup, which makes us much happier masters. And, when we need to go out of town, we have a trusty place for Jack to stay. Thanks to The Well Heeled Dog.

I highly recommend the services of The Well Healed Dog. My family and I were looking for someone to “work a miracle” with our 2 young puppies. Many of the companies we contacted “guaranteed” the results we desired. Matt from TWHD guaranteed only one thing; “if my family and I didn’t practice and use the tools and techniques that Matt showed us consistently – we would certainly fail. It was his honest approach, various services, and competitive pricing that made our choice an easy one. He was right. With his direction, knowledge and unwavering commitment to working with us and our puppies I am proud to say “we worked a miracle- together”. Thank You Matt and TWHD!

My wife and I decided to get my 2year old son a very cute and small at the time, American Bull Dog. Her name is Rosie and now is a 70 pound beautiful 2 year old dog. When we first got Rosie she was about 12 weeks old and quite the puppy. As she grew older we knew we had to get her trained because if not she would turn into "Hooch" from the movie Turner and Hooch. We contacted "The Well Heeled Dog" and to our amazement was everything he said he was! Our dog went from being crazy and rambucious to a well mannered young girl. I can take her on a walk and not feel like my arm is going to rip off! She listens to me when I say "no", or for that matter listens to other commands like sit, walk, no jumping, etc.
Being able to refer someone business is not something I like to do unless I am confident of the persons ability. Matt Smith from The Well Heeled Dog is quite knowledgeable of dogs, has tremendous patience, and knows how to run his business.
Thanks Well Heeled Dog for training our dear Rosie!!

We had numerous trainers tell us Spec was “un-trainable” due to behavior issues. However, with Matt’s skills, expertise, knowledge and patience we now have a new dog. This was truly the best decision we ever made. The experience was great we learned so much! Matt is an amazing trainer/person!!!

Getting my first dog as an adult was completely different experience than the family dog from when I was a kid. Matt guided me through the process, from choosing the right dog for me to training. Matt’s advice and training instruction was invaluable.

My husband and I have a Bullmastiff puppy. While Stitch is a big lover, he is also a stubborn little (big) boy. He was disobedient and far from potty trained. After one week with Matt, Stitch was a totally different dog. He can now heel, sit, lie down and is potty trained. The training program with The Well Heeled Dog was a success!

I first met Matt Smith in January 2009 after Santa Claus brought our two young kids a beautiful boxer puppy named Barack. Matt helped with the early training of Barack and has been interested & helpful with our dog ever since. Every time we go on vacation we leave Barack with Matt.because we know the dog is loved & cared for very well. Matt sends us texts & pictures of Barack while we're on vacation. In summary we are very happy with Barack & our kids love growing up with him. We always appreciate Matt Smith for helping us make Barack a member of our family & always being available to help us with him.
